ICEBOCCE EQUIPMENT
Standard Equipment

The information below is provided to help standardize the equipment used to play Icebocce. Standard equipment will bring the game of Icebocce up to the level of all other major sports.


ICEBOCCE DISK:
DESCRIPTION:
A standard Icebocce game set consists of eight round/curved edged disks with throwing handles, typically 4 red disks & 4 blue disks.
SIZE:
All eight Icebocce Disks shall be identical in size, weight and material.  The World Icebocce Association (WIA) standard grade disks have a diameter of 6 9/16 inch (166.69 millimeter) x 2 ½ inch (63.5 millimeter) depth base weighting of 48oz (1360.78 grams) with a 4 inch (101.6 millimeter) tall handle that is attached with a tee nut/carriage bolt.

MATERIALS:
Base:  Polyurethane casted resin mixture with a 3/8” 4 prong stainless steel tee nut inserted into it.
Handle: Wood, polyester or polyurethane resin or a polycarbonate plastic with ¾” long 3/8” stainless steel carriage bolt inserted in it with the threads protruding out.

 JACK:
DESCRIPTION:
Small hard rubber disk of contrasting color (black) used as the target bullet.

SIZE:
A tournament grade jack is1 inch (25mm) thick, 3 inches (76mm) in diameter, and a weight between 5.5 and 6 ounces (156 and 170g).
Jack size is much less important than the disk size and there isn’t any strict standard size/weight/material.
MATERIALS:
Hard rubber composite materials (very similar to a NHL Hockey puck).

SCORE BOARD:
DESCRIPTION:
Numbers 1 through 12 arranged similar to a clock face with an arrow pointing to the score for the red or blue team. The scoreboard can be a single set of numbers with a red and blue arrow or a set of numbers for each color.

SIZE:
2 inch minimum height numbers in a 12 inch minimum diameter circle. The scoreboard should be readable from both ends of the court.
MATERIALS:
Plastic / wood / metal

MEASURING DEVICES:
Any measuring device that can repeatably and accurately determine the difference between the distances of 2 or more disks from the jack is acceptable. Some currently in use are below.

ICEBOCCE CUP MEASURER:
DESCRIPTION:
A small cup like device that fits over the jack with a rotatable locking tape measure centered on top of the cup.

SIZE:
Cup inside diameter of 1/16 to 1/8 inch larger than the jack diameter at bottom tapered to the jack diameter at top and inside depth of 1/2 inch larger than the jack diameter.
MATERIALS:
Plastic or metallic cup and standard 12 to 25 foot measuring tape.

MEASURING TAPE:
DESCRIPTION:
Standard retractable and locking measuring tape. Some special types come with attached calipers.

SIZE:
12 to 25 feet long.
MATERIALS:
Metal tape in plastic or metal housing.

MEASURING ROD:
DESCRIPTION:
Telescoping pocket rod used to measure short distances. Some special types come with attached calipers.

SIZE:
6 inches minimum expanding to 24 inches minimum.
MATERIALS:
Metal or plastic.

SIGNALING DEVICES:
Any signaling device for the referee to use to clearly signal the players at the throwing end which color is in or which color throws next is acceptable. Some currently in use are below.

REFEREE PADDLE:
DESCRIPTION:
Round paddle colored red on one side and blue on the other side.

SIZE:
Paddle ball or ping pong paddle size.
MATERIALS:
Wood or plastic.

REFEREE FLAGS:
DESCRIPTION:
A red flag and a blue flag.

SIZE:
6 inches by 6 inches minimum.
MATERIALS:
Cloth or plastic


COURT BRUSH:
DESCRIPTION:
A court brush with long handles used to drag the court to smooth it out.

SIZE:
Width of brush should be over 1/2 of the court width.
MATERIALS:
Stiff horse hair or synthetic fibers, 3 to 5 inches long.

COURT SCRAPER:

DESCRIPTION:
A wide blade, smooth on one edge and serrated on the other edge with a long handle. It is used to loosen high spots, move material around, and smooth the court.

SIZE:
Width of blade should be 2 to 4 feet.
MATERIALS:
Metallic
